Great Grape Ape week comes to an end

In the age of CGI remakes and movies based on old cartoons, what would The Great Grape Ape look like today? I submit to you the future:

Spam of the Week

This week’s SPEW comes to us from user “Buy Links.” Mr Links is commenting, like 90% of my bot spam, on how global warming interrupted grape Popsicle week.

“I’m impressed!!! Really informative blog post here my friend. I just wanted to comment & say keep up the quality work. I’ve bookmarked your blog just now and I’ll be back to read more in the future my friend! Also nice colors on the layout, it’s really easy on the eyes.”

First off, I’m glad to have made a friend. Particularly one who appreciates the quality of my work. You’re the first! Second, thanks or the positive comment on the colors of my site. It’s called “white” with black text with a back ground comprised of really big grapes. Interestingly, I didn’t want those grapes to be so… freakishly massive, but I lost interest in trying to fix it after about 30 seconds or so. Now, I’m glad I didn’t invest that extra 37 seconds to figure it out. I may just get that web award for design…

Finally… well, there is no finally. I started this off as a list of points and you can’t have a list with just two things and I’m too lazy to go back and rewrite it.

Maintain them comin’, my friends!

Off The Plate: Taco Bell’s Cantina Taco

Today I’m unveiling a new feature here on the site called Off The Plate. This feature will be about non grapes on plate news, events, and other such-and-such from wherever-dom.

Our inaugural OTP will feature Taco Bell’s new Cantina Taco. Although I have favorites at most restaurants (OK, calling Taco Bell a restaurant is a stretch), I always try new menu items. You never know, you might find a new favorite… or you might find the Cantina Taco.

For those of you who’ve been blessed and HAVEN’T tried the Cantina Taco, let me describe it to you:

The two moisturelss, turn-to-paste-as-you-eat-them corn tortillas that crack and splinter like The Mummy’s foreskin at a Thai strip club are filled with slimy meat seasoned with the sweat of an outsourced IT call center and topped off with half a pound of cilantro.

American Civil War era hardtack is more appetizing.

How bad are the Cantina Tacos? First, it’s been about month since I tried said tacos and I still can’t think of the Taco Bell brand without my stomach turning. Second, I can’t think of ANY Mexican food without my stomach turning. Third, it took me a month to write this piece because every time I started working on it, my stomach started turning. Finally, they were so bad I created a special feature on my website just to warn the populous.

It’s The Great Grape Ape Week!

On this date in 1975 The Great Grape Ape Show first aired on ABC as part of their Saturday morning lineup. To celebrate, we’ve got a week’s worth of Grape Ape images!

Speaking of Grape Ape… while looking for suitable images for this week’s theme, I came across many images of cannabis. Apparently, Grape Ape is a variety of the wacky tabbacy. Learn something new every day…
