This One is for Burger Lovers… or Burger Lover’s

A few years back I was watching this show on Travel Chanel called Deep Fried Paradise. One of the segments was about this place that has been deep frying hamburgers in the same batch of oil for 70 years. No, you didn’t read that wrong. They haven’t changed their fryer oil in 70 years. That’s flava. Any way, this guy really likes their burgers. Or maybe he’s talking about something… else.

Loads… of flavor

Thanks for staying with us, here’s something that will kill you

While I was clearing up old images on my work Blackberry, I came across a photo from a few years back when I used to do quite a bit of work related travel. Because I spent a good deal of time in hotels, I quickly became a “Platinum Elite” level customer which earns you free hotel nights (I’ll be  going to Aruba with some of those points next month), free room upgrades, and snacks/goodies when you check-in, etc… Here’s a picture of the complementary gift basket they left for me in my room:

The problem, that those of you that know me personally will notice, is that I’m allergic to peanuts. Nothing like a little anaphalaxis to start your travels, eh?

Recipes: Lemonade

We’ve had a lot of recipe requests for my no-so secret but ever-so awesome lemonade. It’s actually a derivation of this recipe I found online. I make mine with a combination of sugar and Truvia, an artificial sweetener made from the stevia plant and use a microwave to cut cooking time. It’s so quick and easy, I often make it during downtime while cooking dinner or breakfast. I hope you enjoy…

Ingredients:

1.5 Cups of lemon juice (either fresh squeezed, or from a bottle)

1 Cup of sugar

2 Tbsp Truvia

8 cups of water

Directions:

Step one: Mix one cup water, sugar, and Truvia in a microwave save container for 2 minutes. Stir. Microwave for another 90 seconds. Stir until sugar is dissolved and mixture is clear.

Step two: Cool to room temp, then move to refrigerator until chilled.

Step three: Combine remaining water, lemon juice, and syrup mixture and chill.

Serve over ice and enjoy with a nice side of grapes. Goes well with the Sea Captain’s Ribs.

Total Carbohydrates: 28 per 8 Oz. glass.

Special thanks to the USDA site for providing an awesome tool to determine nutrition.
