Raisins and conversations
See below for today’s image. Normally, I won’t post everyday, but this is a special week.
On to the next bit… been overhearing a lot of heated discussions here at the aPlateOfGrapes.com downtown office regarding Craisins, dates, and other dried fruits/berries. Being a man of the people, I traveled to a few of our satellite offices incognito and found the same conversations taking place. I even set up a phone conference with our Belgian branch, but I couldn’t understand a damn thing they were saying.
A raisin is a dried grape (it says so on Wikipedia, so it must be true). Just because something is dried and wrinkly doesn’t make it a raisin. Is your grandmother a grape? How about your elbow? Since there is so much confusion, I created this spread sheet to help. Just enter what the item was BEFORE it was shriveled and the sheet will magically tell you if it’s a raisin or not. Hope this helps clear things up! Is it a raisin?
The Corinthians gave us more than supple leather…
National raisin week continues, and today’s entry is the little know Zante Currant. Smaller than regular raisins, they get their name from the Ionian island of Zakynthos (Zante) and a small black grape from Corinth (currant). These have no relation to the more commonly known berries (such as blackcurrant, redcurrant, etc…).
Congratulations to our 10th commenter!
